Admission requirements

To enroll at the École Hôtelière de Genève, the admission requirements include motivation as one of the essential selection criteria.

Just like your future career in the hospitality industry, our training is demanding, requiring genuine commitment and constant attendance.

We also assess candidates on criteria such as enthusiasm, tenacity and passion. Interviews, covering letters and the presentation of professional projects are decisive factors in our eyes. They enable us to better understand your ambitions and to guide you as closely as possible to your aspirations.

1 week during summer vacation

Discovery Week

This five-day summer camp, taught in French, is specially designed to enable teenagers to discover the world of the hotel industry, explore the different career possibilities in this exciting sector, and enjoy an unforgettable experience. Whether you’re curious about what goes on behind the scenes in the hotel industry, or are considering a career in this field, this program offers an ideal introduction.

Level of education required :

  • Be between 15 and 18 years old.

Conditions of registration :

  • Registration confirmed once payment received.
  • Places are limited.

Generalist curriculum

This program, taught in French, is designed for anyone interested in studying hospitality, whether you are a recent high school graduate or already have some experience in the field.

The program is open to those who want to embark on an exciting career in the hospitality industry, and who are ready to acquire the skills needed to succeed in this dynamic sector.

A B2 level of French is required to ensure effective participation and full understanding of the courses.

To be admitted to the generalist curriculum, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Age: Must be at least 18 years old during the first semester.
  • Aptitude test: Successful completion of an aptitude test.
  • Required academic level: Meet one of the following required academic levels:
    • Hold a Swiss Maturité, Baccalauréat, A-levels or other recognized equivalent.
    • Hold a CFC in another field.
    • Hold an ECG diploma.
    • Hold another secondary school diploma.
    • Hold a foreign diploma at ISCED (International Standard Classification of Education) level 3A, 3B or 3C, 4A or 4B.
  • Interview: An interview with the Admissions Manager.

It is also possible to be admitted on the basis of qualifications deemed equivalent, after passing an aptitude test of equivalent level and providing proof of three years’ professional experience, including at least one year in the hotel-restaurant sector.

Professional curriculum

To be admitted to the professional curriculum, candidates must meet one of the following criteria:

  • Holders of a Certificat fédéral de capacité (CFC) in the hotel and catering industry.
  • Holders of an ISCED (International Standard Classification of Education) 3A, 3B or 3C, 4A or 4B vocational diploma in the relevant foreign field.
  • Admission on the basis of equivalent qualifications

On the basis of qualifications deemed equivalent, and after passing an aptitude test whose requirements are those of the aptitude test in letter b, candidates with three years’ professional experience in the hotel and catering sector may be admitted to the Professional curriculum.

Hybrid curriculum

Post-graduate programs

Admission to the programs is open to holders of an ES Diploma, a Brevet Fédéral, a Bachelor’s degree, a Master’s degree or equivalent, on application only.

For all professionals with significant experience, but who do not hold one of the above-mentioned diplomas, admission is based on acceptance of the application (ASD). See the detailed list of each stage.
