Revenue manager or Director of revenue, it is THE hospitality industry business of the moment. All hotel chains and large establishments have their yield managers, more commonly known as revenue managers. In real pro of the figure you juggle with the reservations and room prices to improve the profitability of the hotel.
You may prefer to rent five rooms at full rate rather than ten at reduced rate. To guide you, you take a close look at the competition and follow the reservation tables on a daily basis.
Good communicator, you know how to listen to the needs of tour operators and travel agencies who may “buy” a lot of rooms from you at the last minute.
In a group or hotel establishment, your mission as revenue manager essentially consists in optimizing the income per available room, called REVPAR, and per guest, as well as the average price per room, in the establishment or establishments for which you are responsible. In this perspective, your role is to adapt room rates according to demand, in order to optimize the performance of your hotel.
You are required to develop a commercial strategy adapted to the establishment. Thus, you must find the right balance between bookings made through external channels (booking sites, travel agencies), requiring a commission, and those made directly to the hotel or via the hotel’s website.
You work in direct contact with the Hotel Manager, the Room Division Manager, the Front Office Manager or the Sales and Marketing Manager.
