The Front Office Manager is responsible for managing and organizing the reception service, welcoming the client, training his staff and performing a number of administrative and commercial tasks. All this must be done, as always, with the aim of maximizing sales while ensuring optimal comfort for its guests. This profession is for both men and women.
While in a low-capacity hotel the receptionist is a department manager in the same way as the restaurant manager, in a large hotel he will often have a superior in the person of the Room Division Manager.
The position of Front Office Manager is a key position and requires the commitment of people with many qualities, both professional and personal. A true “one-man orchestra” of the hotel, the Front Office Manager is often considered as the director’s right-hand man, and then logically evolves towards management functions.
The Front Office Manager is responsible for the hotel’s Reception department, which takes care of guests upon their arrival. He facilitates the progress of their stay, ensures the requests for various services, and collects payments from clients.
For this purpose, the Front Office Manager manages a team of receptionists by day and by night, whose schedule he defines and coordinates the work, with a constant concern to serve the client as well as possible.
